Volunteers are the heart and soul of Valley View…we would be lost without all the helping
hands that so generously share their talents and literally thousands of hours of with us! We
have a number of committees that are focused in different areas of our work. Whether it is
leading a group of school children on an adventure, working on the trails, cutting and
clearing deadwood, helping in our office or planting and harvesting fresh produce…every
volunteer helps us build the story of Valley View. Please email or call or email if you are
interested in learning more.

Development Committee – Valley View is a volunteer, non-profit organization with an
operating budget that is completely funded through donations, programs, events,
sponsorships and grants.  The development committee focuses on managing our annual
budget, communication and marketing, donor relationships and building
community/business partnerships to ensure our short and long term financial sustainability.

Program Committee – Sharing our space with people to learn, play and restore in nature is the core of our mission. The programs committee focuses on outdoor recreation, outdoor education, history and fine arts. We treasure the simplicity and peacefulness of Valley View so we are working on building a balanced approach to passive and organized experiences for people of all ages to enjoy the great outdoors, explore their artistic talents and stay connected with our natural world.

Agriculture Committee – Valley View has a number of agricultural projects including a well-established community garden, bee hives, popcorn fields, a one acre hops field and a 2 acre plant rescue garden.
The agriculture committee works on general garden maintenance, plant propagation,
educational workshops, sourcing produce, and most importantly harvesting and donating
fresh food to those in need.

Property Management  - Our property is 190 acres so we have a long, ongoing to-do list. We are constantly working to maintain and improve our property for visitors. For decades before Valley View was formed, this land was used only for tenant farming.  Work was done to prepare fields and grow crops, but there was no attention paid to invasive species such as honeysuckle or to what we now consider important cleanup and property maintenance. The property management committee consistently tackles lots of physical grunt work such as brush and deadwood removal, structural repairs, construction projects, equipment maintenance and repair.

Trail Maintenance

We are constantly working to maintain and improve our property for visitors. For decades before Valley View was formed, this land was used only for tenant farming.  Work was done to prepare fields and grow crops, but there was no attention paid to invasive species such as honeysuckle or to what we now consider important cleanup and property maintenance chores.  We couldn’t survive without our small mowing team who groom more than 5 miles of trails and we are so thankful to all the individuals, scout troops, schools and community organizations who have contributed to the thousands of volunteer hours over the past decade.
