Celebrate the beginning of autumn with a Run for the Bottoms
Saturday, October 5th! The Valley View property was affectionately nicknamed "the bottoms" many years ago. In 2004, we created the Run for the Bottoms to help raise money to preserve the property and we decided to reintroduce the race in 2018. Run the new 5K or *single loop 10K and enjoy the post-race cookout at the barns. A great way to support Valley View and explore the trails with family and friends!
We've chosen 6 evenings to meet at sunset (8:30-8:45pm) at Valley View's southern entrance behind Pattison Elementary and enjoy the moon lit sky along the winding Valley View trails. The guided hike will be approximately 2 miles through both forest and field.
No RSVP necessary~ BYOB~ Dress appropriately~ All ages welcome!
Hikes are weather permitting~

We are gearing up for our annual strategic planning meeting and we need your help!
As the land stewards of the Valley View property, we give very careful consideration to the decisions we make about our future aspirations, direction and priorities. A few clicks of the mouse from you will be invaluable feedback to us. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YFSNKSW
Thank you for volunteering your time and sharing your input.
If you have been on the trails recently you have probably seen a few areas that our land management team has been clearing. The invasive trees and plants have taken over a number of our fields that we are working to reclaim. In particular, the red cedars and honeysuckle spread rapidly and eventually choke out all the native plants and grasses.
Returning the property to quality prairie and forest will greatly improve the animal habitat and help maintain a balanced ecosystem including varied native plants and animal species.
Winning the battle takes both manual and mechanical work. Our board chair, Chris Habel, recently added a couple bobcat attachments to his ever expanding tool collection. Now we are able to make considerable progress in a short amount of time. There are some areas that we hit hard and need to be cleaned up, but please know our volunteers are working diligently and as quickly as weather permits.
The more helping hands the more progress we can make! If you have some time t...
